Into the Beautiful North!
Joanna Priestley has produced, directed and animated 27 award winning animated films about subjects dear to her heart: poetry, abstraction, relationships, plants, and prison. She loves animating and is currently working on a film inspired by her month long trip to the Yukon.
Joanna has had retrospectives at the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Center for Contemporary Art (Warsaw, Poland), American Cinematheque (Los Angeles, CA), the Stuttgart Animation Festival (Stuttgart, Germany) and REDCAT (Los Angeles) and has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the American Film Institute, the MacDowell Colony, Fundación Valparaíso and Creative Capital. Priestley was founding president of ASIFA Northwest and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She also loves to create costumes, hats, parades and group events for Burning Man and Halloween.
