Into the Beautiful North!

Aurora Magic

Winter Solstice is only a month away! The lengthening nights and short days are making me long for the Yukon. Here are some lovely photos from the extreme north and extreme south. These images are not easy to make. Photographers must spend long hours, outside, in total darkness, usually between 11 PM and 4 AM. They often risk frostbite when removing their big gloves or down mittens to set up a metal tripod and operate the camera. My very warm hat is off to them!

Beautiful! I am in awe not only of the auroras, but of the people dedicated to taking pictures of them!
